Comment
A publisher of avant garde books has a relationship with a bohemian artist. He is persuaded to marry a rich socialite who persuades him to publish more commercial books. He soon gets bored with the social circle she moves in and reacquaints himself with the artist, but she runs away from restarting the relationship. The inevitable love triangle develops as Leslie Howard has to chose between the two very different women in his life and between integrity and wealth. There are good performances from Leslie Howard trying to find his way through life, Myrna Loy as the socialite driven by wealth and social standing and Ann Harding as poor but idealistic artist. The film is based on a play and has the feel of being a stage production being filmed. There is some quite witty and definitely pre-code dialogue and scenes.
